Should I strop after every sharpening session?
Stropping is a quick and easy way to bring out the sharpness of your knives after sharpening or polishing, and a great way to maintain sharpness in between sharpening sessions. Due to my busy schedule, I do not always have the time to sharpen my knives. I typically will strop my knives once or twice a week, and actually sharpen them on a whetstone once a month. That 3:1 stropping:sharpening schedule has worked best for me. However, I will be honest, if I had the time, a weekly sharpening session is what I would stick to. It yielded the most consistent results for my knives, without having to worry about sharpening every 2-3 days.
