Will my knives be sharper when sharpened on whetstones vs machine sharpening, or pull-through sharpeners?

The sharpness of your knives will vary depending on your skills. The more you practice - the better you will be. Electric sharpeners such as those made by Chef’s Choice will get knives sharp enough to be used in most kitchens. Basic hand sharpeners, or sometimes referred to as “pull-through” sharpeners tend to be more basic, and designed for occasional home use. These types of sharpeners can help maintain a knife’s edge, but I find using them to bring back a very dull knife very challenging, while trying to use them on damaged or chipped knives, impossible.
